[Seoul – November 30, 2020] Dunamu Inc. (CEO Sirgoo Lee), operator of the global digital asset exchange Upbit, officially kicks off the Upbit Developer Conference 2020 (UDC 2020) on November 30, 2020.
The five-day online-only event geared towards blockchain developers will be broadcast via the official UDC YouTube channel from November 30 (Mon.) to December 4 (Fri.). UDC continues to build a reputation as the preeminent global blockchain conference, with over 3000 people pre-registering for the event.
The theme of UDC 2020 is 'return blockchain * future; (Solving the Future with Blockchain)’, with the coding term ‘return’ representing the conference’s focus on the value blockchain technology will bring to our future. To provide an optimal online viewing experience, the event is divided into five daily one-hour programs, with broadcasts beginning around lunch hours. UDC 2020 will cover a wide range of topics, including the latest blockchain trends and the industry’s outlook for 2021.
Today’s Day 1 sessions feature a conversation between Dunamu CEO Sirgoo Lee and culture columnist Tae-Hoon Kim covering the key themes of UDC 2020. They will also discuss what to watch for during the five-day event, where the blockchain revolution is headed, and go behind-the-scenes of UDC 2020. The opening keynote will be delivered by Edgardo Yu of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), providing an inside look at how the WFP, winners of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize, is utilizing blockchain technology to combat hunger around the world.
Day 2 and Day 3 of UDC 2020 focuses on key blockchain trends for 2021. On December 1, Christopher Giancarlo, Senior Counsel for Willkie Farr & Gallagher, and the 13th Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and Hong-Kyu Lee, CEO of Unchain, will give presentations on one of the biggest current issues in blockchain, central bank digital currencies (CBDC). The sessions will cover how various countries are approaching CBDCs, and what kind of application is expected in the near and distant future. The keyword for December 2 is DeFi (decentralized finance). Gustav Arentoft, Business Development Representative in Europe for the Maker Foundation, and Eric Yoo, CSO of DXM, will discuss the principles of DeFi, and how the emerging industry is maximizing the value of blockchain.
On December 3, UDC 2020 looks at the regulatory challenges facing the blockchain industry in 2021. With new digital asset regulations expected to take effect next year in South Korea, a panel of experts will offer their insights on how the government, businesses, and individual investors will need to adopt to the changing climate. Goo-Soon Lee, deputy director of the Financial News Blockchain Team will moderate the panel with panelists Jong-Soo Yoon, a partner at the law firm Lee&Ko, Joon-Kee Hong, Head of Asia for Cumberland DRW, and Ji-hoon Lim, CSO of Dunamu.
UDC 2020 closes on December 4th with special sessions that highlight how some of UDC 2019’s most talked about presenters are continuing to drive innovation and change through blockchain technology. Jong-Yoon Kim, CEO of Online & Offline Business at Yanolja, Jay Park, CEO of Lambda 256, and Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder & Chief Scientist of Hedera Hashgraph, will each share their visions for the future of blockchain technology.
UDC 2020 will also feature a daily giveaway event open to all viewers. From November 30 to December 4, users that post the correct answer to the question of the day along with a selfie watching UDC 2020, and the official hashtag will be eligible to win an assortment of prizes including an iPad Air, a Bluetooth speaker, and an official UDC 2020 gift bag.
First held in September 2018, UDC is South Korea's first conference dedicated to blockchain developers, with programs focused on free exchange of ideas, in-depth discussions, and community building. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, UDC 2020 will be held as an online-only event. From November 30 to December 4, UDC 2020 will be broadcast starting 11:30 a.m. (KST) and can be viewed free-of-charge on the official YouTube channel.
